Do I need to bring a car to Nantucket?
You do not need a car on Nantucket. There are shuttle buses on the island and our house is steps from a shuttle stop. Nantucket also has Uber and Taxis and is very bike-friendly. If you are staying for more than a long weekend, we recommend having a car particularly if you have children. Car reservations can be made via the Steamship Authority and reservations for Summer 2025 will open in January 2025. But please be advised that these reservations are hard to get. You may need to add yourself to the waitlist for the ferry you want.
Alternatively, we keep a car on the island that can be used by our renters for a fee of $75 per day. It is a 2013 Hyundai Elantra sedan. Please reach out if you’re interested.
